The Pacer Stacktrain executive management team consists of leaders
well-known throughout the intermodal industry. They are:
Michael Uremovich
Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Pacer International
In November 2006, Michael Uremovich was appointed Chairman and
Chief Executive Officer of Pacer International, with executive
responsibility for all Pacer International business units. Mr.
Uremovich was a member of the executive team that initiated the
double-stack container network in North America, which has changed
the way domestic freight is distributed in the United States, Canada,
and Mexico. He joined Pacer International as Vice Chairman in October
of 2003 after serving as a consultant to the company for several
years. His background includes a wide range of senior executive
and consulting positions in the transportation and logistics industries.
Immediately prior to joining Pacer, he was a principal owner of
Manalytics International, a San Francisco-based consulting firm.
He served as Vice President of Marketing for Southern Pacific Transportation
and President of TSSI, their logistics operating company during
the early to mid-1990s. During the 1980s, Mr. Uremovich held a
number of senior executive positions at American President Companies
in both domestic and international operations, including Senior
Vice President Marketing, Vice President Pricing, and Vice President
Strategic Planning. In his consulting career, he has been the Managing
Director of the Worldwide Transportation practice for Coopers & Lybrand
LLC, and a Principal at Booz Allen and Hamilton. Mr. Uremovich
has an Undergraduate degree in Transportation from the University
of Arizona, an MBA in International Economics from the City University
New York, and a Masters degree in Liberal Arts from St. Johns College.
Donald Orris
Interim President, Intermodal Segment
Don Orris was appointed Interim President of the Pacer Intermodal Segment in
November 2007. Mr. Orris is a past Chairman and Chief Executive Officer
of Pacer International and currently serves on its board of directors
Mr. Orris
helped establish the Stacktrain technology and service network
in 1984 while with American President Lines (APL). He is known
as the "architect" of
the system, which has changed the way domestic freight is distributed in the
United States, Canada and Mexico.
Prior to Pacer International, Mr. Orris served as President and COO
of Southern Pacific Railroad until its merger with Union Pacific
Railroad. During his 13-year tenure with APL, he served as President
of that company's Stacktrain and Intermodal marketing businesses.
Earlier, he was associated with the Denver & Rio Grande Western
Railroad. Mr. Orris was named an Intermodal Founding Father by the
Denver University's Intermodal Transportation Institute and holds
a B.S./B.A. degree from DU.
Brian C. Kane
Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, Intermodal
Segment
Brian Kane serves as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating
Officer, Intermodal Segment. Prior to his current position, Mr.
Kane served Pacer Stacktrain and its parent company, Pacer International,
through various positions, including Corporate Controller of Pacer
International from November 2003 until October 2006, Vice President
and Controller of Pacer Stacktrain from May 1999 until November
2003, and Director of Financial Reporting from May 1998 until May
1999. He was Vice President Finance for the Shell Martinez Refining
Company from November 1996 until May 1998, and Controller for Southern
Pacific Transportation Company from April 1990 until November 1996.
Mr. Kane earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting at the
University of Virginia.
Dan Beers
Chief Commercial Officer, Sales
Dan Beers serves as Chief
Commercial Officer for Pacer’s Intermodal Segment with responsibility
for both Pacer Stacktrain and Pacer Global Logistics sales. He
is accountable for the Ocean Carrier and Mexico business units
as well as Customer Support for Pacer Stacktrain. Prior to joining
Pacer Stacktrain in November 2005, Mr. Beers was President of Swift
Intermodal, and Senior Vice President of Intermodal, Automotive
and North American Carload Sales for the TFM Railroad in Mexico
City. Previous positions held include Assistant Vice President
of Intermodal Sales for the Burlington Northern Railroad, as well
as various roles in the LTL industry. Mr. Beers earned a Bachelors
of Arts degree in Business Administration from Texas A&M University-Commerce.
Peter Baumhefner
Executive Vice President, Operations
Pete Baumhefner serves as Executive Vice President, Operations.
He has responsibility for all Pacer Stacktrain services operations,
in addition to accountability for the maintenance and repair functions
for all Pacer Stacktrain chassis and containers, totaling approximately
60,000 pieces of equipment. He has over 40 years of experience
in transportation, including various operating and marketing positions
at the Southern Pacific Railroad and American President Lines.
Mr. Baumhefner is a graduate of the University of California at
Los Angeles (UCLA).
Peter Mettra
Executive Vice President, Transportation Purchasing and Marketing
Peter Mettra serves as Executive Vice President of Transportation
Purchasing and Marketing. His background includes over 34 years
in the rail transportation industry, including over 20 years with
Pacer Stacktrain and its predecessor, American President Lines.
Immediately prior to his current position, he was Vice President
of Domestic Sales for Pacer Stacktrain. In 1985, Mr. Mettra joined
APL in their Transportation Purchasing group, and later held positions
in regional operations, logistics, and sales. In 1972, Mr. Mettra
started his career with the Santa Fe Railroad in pricing and sales.
In 1979 he joined the Southern Pacific Railroad holding various
marketing positions in intermodal, international, chemicals, food,
and forest products. Mr. Mettra earned a Bachelors of Arts degree
in Business Administration from of the University of Iowa.
